North Sea dolphin population

Ecanadanow.com reports that in the Special Area of Conservation set up in the Moray Firth in the North Sea (between Scotland and the rest of Europe) 102 bottlnose dolphins were spotted in 2011, rising to 112 in 2012 and then 94 in 2013.

"While it wasn’t clear what caused the number of sightings to slip, the SNH report concludes that the bottlenose dolphin population is stable for the first time in a generation"

Local people, businesses, and authorities have been praised for the success in preserving the dolphins, the northern-most population in the Artic ocean. Dolphins in the Moray Firth also encourage eco-tourism which is good for the local economy and which provides a win-win outcome for dolphins and humans alike.
